PHOTHEREL is a European e-learning project on the conservation and dissemination of photographic heritage via a "justified" digitization. The basic assumption of PHOTHEREL is that the digitization of photographic heritage cannot be reduced to a strictly technical process, but should also include a cultural, historical and contextual framing of the image. An image is not only an object to be "seen", but also - and most of all - an object that has to be interpreted and understood. This portal site offers links to the PHOTHEREL methodology and to demonstrations of the use of this methodology. |
